Made up of 33 islands, Phuket, is the largest island in Thailand, approximately the size of Singapore. It runs 48 km in length and 21 km in width at its widest. It is connected by a suspesion bridge from the southern tip of Phang Nga Province. Phuket is blessed with magnificent coves and bays, powdery, palm-fringed white beaches, sparkling island-dotted seas, sincerely hospitable people, superb accommodation and seafood, delightful turn-of-the-century Sino-Portuguese architecture; numerous sporting and leisure opportunities and a lush tropical landscape - all of which combine to create a delightful ambience for truly memorable holidays.
Phuket is famous for its beaches and there are a lot to choose from. Patong might be the most central and busy, along with Karon, but head north to the sweeping Kamala or small and quiet Surin beach, or marvel at the pretty lagoons behind Bang Tao Beach. Perhaps the nicest of the beaches is Kata and Kata Noi, while Rawai and Nai Harn are delightfully unspoilt. There are also the remote and uncrowded north beaches of Nai Yang and Mai Khao. On offer in most of the beach areas is a host of water activities including scuba diving, yachting, water-skiing, windsurfing, jet-skiing and parasailing. There are also fantastic accommodation options, glorious restaurants, entertaining bars, and clubs situated around these beach resort areas.
Although Phuket is famous for its beautiful white beaches and crystal clear sea, there are other things of interest on the island. The interior is definitely worth exploring. There are rice paddies, rubber plantations and small slices of Phuket's remaining rainforest. You can also visit coconut and rubber plantations, Buddhist temples, batik factories, a cultured-pearl farm, a crocodile farm, the Marine Biological Research Center and a number of parks. The triple canopy rainforest of Khao Phra Thaeo National Park to the mud flats and mangrove swamps of Koh Siray. Limestone outcroppings line the east coast and solid granite boulders on the west. Phuket is truly a tropical wonderland and offers something for just about everyone. Well worth visited are the caves and lagoons of Phang Nga Bay, Phi Phi Island , Krabi Bay, Similan Island, Raya Island and Khai Island, Coral Island.
Phuket Island itself is beautiful with varied scenery and many opportunities for sightseeing or snorkelling trip. Other attractions are the Phuket Aquarium, the Khao Phra Thaeo National Park and five golf courses, including the prestigious Blue Canyon Country Club. Phuket Town is definitely worth checking out. There's plenty of shops and departments stores, as well as a few flea markets as well as some small antique and handicraft shops. Many of the streets are lined with Sino-Portuguese shop houses and century-old Chinese herbalists shops, a reminder of the island's heritage. There are also numerous places of interest, including Phuket Aquarium, the Phuket Butterfly Garden and Aquarium and the Phuket Orchid Garden and Thai Village. To the east lies Siray Island, home to Phuket's largest settlement of Sea Gypsies, and picturesque Chalong, Phuket's principal boat anchorage and the island's largest bay. At the northern end is Phuket Zoo. Then there are the great viewpoints above Kata Bay and at Promthep cape, from which to see the sun set. Or how about the soaring chedi at Wat Chalong. From the summit of Rang Hill (Khao Rang) in the northwest, there are views of Makham Bay, the offshore islands, and the town itself. The prominent southern extremity of the island, called Prom Thep Cape, is a great place to enjoy a stunning sunset.

"One major problem is the language barrier in as much that the front desk staff have very little knowledge of english. Despite this, over-all we find the hotel room and the facilities to be acceptable for me and my husband. The hotel is close to the MTR station and is within a major commercial shopping district. Its higly recommendable if not for the hotel personnel.The room is clean and the basic amnenities are made available for the guests. We had a very good view of the Pudong business district. The lobby looks a bit shabby. They could have made it more inviting."
